the first new crazylegs music of the summer season is a bold slice of motown-fuelled house music from tommy rawson, following up his debut on sweden’s local talk last year. uk garage hero zed bias brings the dread with a dark, broken maddslinky refix on the flip, after recently announcing his imminent retirement from the dj circuit. imami rounds off the package with a booming mutant funk workout, off the back of his debut ep on druid cloak’s apothecary compositions label last november. crazylegs is a young record label birthed in 2012 from a five-year old bristol club party of the same name – founded by jambo and shandy and now run by a small team of like-minded djs and producers – tied together by a love of surprising, spontaneous electronic music and existing to provide a home for the people that create it.

airhead is writing big ones now. inspired by afterhours sessions in some of the worlds best and worst nightclubs, hek024 bangs with the best of them and enforces a new weight behind the producers delicate production style. the roughness debuted on this summers *believe* ep for 1-800 dinosaur (a label rob co-runs with james blake and friends) on which he soaked up plenty of influences from us and uk club tracks/trax and effortlessly intertwined them with his measured songwriting and arrangement skills.

the 6th offering by public possession comes from our old friend anton klint. we have been playing records together for many years and he is for sure one of the best rock/disco djs we know. he has put out a few records together with his partner edvin edvinson as tiedye in the past, but this is his first ever solo production to be released. we are very happy that we could work with him on this one and are now able to present to you the spritzer ep.

after having two tracks featured in last years compilation shlomi aber live from sankeys ibiza, francisco allendes is now at his debut on be as one with a 3 tracks ep. the title track unity is a collaborative work together with felipe venegas, and the results of such union shine through the beauty of the track itself, hypnotic and intelligent production from the duo. on the be side, francisco goes solo with his own peak time groovers with 3dogs 1 bed and forget the sun, two cuts of solid, groove driven house.

hot city orchestra is a reformation of a band, which was originally formed in 1998. at the age of 17, arno völker (einzelkind) and simon birkenfeld became friends and started making drum and bass music together. they toured all over germany with their record label and had residencies at robert johnson in offenbach and tanzhaus west in frankfurt. after gaining years of experience within the breakbeat scene, arno went on to become einzelkind with releases on playhouse, cocoon, white and his own imprints la peña, jax and pressure traxx as well as worldwide dj gigs. simon was still focusing on his breakbeat career for another year, making an album with a uk drum and bass legend, but it was never released. he stopped making music and started focusing on his career in pr and marketing, where he mostly worked on music and art projects. during this time, the long-time friends arno and simon came up with the idea to launch the blog-network-project www.disco-very. net now, 16 years later, after making first beats together, the boys are back! a tiny bit older, much wiser, more handsome and around 50 bpm slower.

dj, producer, promoter & label manager, lex gorrie is a man of many talents. he started in 2006 by promoting the popular sleaze techno party in glasgow, alongside his younger brother, hans bouffmyhre. in the summer of 2008 sleaze records was created by the two paisley brothers. firstly as a platform to release their own productions, but now sleaze records has grown into one of the most respected techno labels in the world.

for this release, s!lk (moodmusic,magnetic, plastic city, nitegrooves) and apon (decay records, claque music, lost my dog, …) both from italy delivers the lost ep with three tracks for different moments in a set.

the new soft-spoken, hard-rocking group from baltimore debuted their full length live show at the wolf + lamb marcy hotel this march. following in the footsteps of greats like nicolas jaar and pillowtalk, they were the first invited guest in over 2 years to perform at the legendary brooklyn proving grounds. life on planets is a duo that met in the studio lofts of their east coast hometown, whereby a collaboration fusing indie artrock and electronic music began to take shape. it was a pairing of two dramatically different personas, merging as one for a serendipitous, romantic sound that s now been signed to the double standard label. life on planets has also released music through better on foot, where the debut single apollo made waves in early 2014. the touring act features live vocals and guitar, backed by a dj/producer, dawning a long-awaited return to authentic songwriting in dance music.

usually found in partnership with blocks on their own narratives imprint, here we find escher flying solo with two beautifully contrasting compositions. deep architecture has already been causing a big stir online due to its wild time signature and off-beat percussive patterns. physically its drum & bass, but mentally its most definitely techno as it pummels with loopy drum insistency. spirit bounce, meanwhile, is a stark and breezy stepper that oozes space and shimmers with emotive synths. its a simple but soulful synthesis many have attempted over the year but only few have mastered... klute, marcus intalex and now escher, too. the return of 31 has been one of d&bs best stories so far this year.

spritual south have developed a real reputation for quality through the years with many established djs and producers counting themselves as fans. now it’s time to give the basic fingers fans two tight & timeless grooves. ‘everyday’ is simply seductive feel good vibes and ‘gonna getcha’ on the b-side is keeping the boogie side of the disco fire burning. hot stuff!

drawing from its palette of chicago house, acid, detroit house and techno, this recently in 2014 established berlin based record label dizzy tunes dedicates itself to pure analogue work on vinyl only. dj krime, who has forced people to the dancefloor for 25 years now, gives his debut on his label. being the first release, dizzy001 follows the straight internal line offering four distinctive chicago house tracks of whom one is a remix, this time by none other than chicago legend tyree cooper.

now a firm part of the modern moon harbour make up, frequent label artist sven tasnadi is back with a new ep that comes complete with a fantastic remix by marco faraone.

taken from a mysterious acetate cut by derrick may in 1987 this release was originally penned for kms offshoot pheerce citi. both these sides were later released - the darkside = as a relic (by longer than long ago) and tic tic tic was later released on the limited edition compilation as music institute 20th anniversary as untitled. both tracks are however, very hard to get on vinyl and have now been re issued as loud 45rpm pressings in pheerce citi artwork and remastered for 2014. great techno obscurity!

starions sound has been a fundamental part of manchestes red laser records since the very first ep back in 2012. he has released many tracks on the labels ep series and has now finally completed his long awaited first solo ep.

cromie s bubbling, spacious house sound first drew critical acclaim last year on the sold out 12- vines / pyrex (peach001), a collaboration with fellow la producer sage caswell. now, peach is thrilled to present cromies solo debut ep inner knows, a revved up set of idiosyncratic dancefloor weapons. how to stop a bulldozer, a rotating helix of synth stabs, warped vocals and low-end torque warrants it s epic title. elsewhere, flan functions like a potent concentrate of 22nd century funk. inner knows kicks off side b with a swirling late night house jam that flirts with the deeper corners of the genre. another fixture in la s electronic scene, suzanne kraft (running back, esp institute, pharoahs) closes out the record with a cubist reading of flan. on his solo debut, cromie s creative depth and attention to detail belies his freshness to the game. regular sets at las club called rhonda and various underground happenings in the sprawling southland have taught him some valuable lessons. if he can deliver this many distinct sounds on a single record, we cant wait to hear what’s next.
